WHAT A GREAT DAY!
The 2013 Edition of the Hertzel Cup was completed on Saturday with 48 Teams playing at eight Clubs. The weather was beautiful with sunshine and temperatures in the mid 40’s. #1 Seed, Josh Guttman and Doug Jones, won the Championship defeating #3 Seed Dan Mott and Michael Todd 7-6 6-1 in a “Prime Time” night match on Center Court of the new paddle hut at The Camargo Club. Guttman / Jones were exceptional as they lived up to their Number One seed not losing a set in their 5 contested matches. Congratulations to Josh and Doug! It was a joy to watch…

The crowd looked on… paddle fans of all sort’s
In the finals were players of so much skill
They expressed such spirit and displayed great will
One winner wore a hat saying “People are Good”
The other two gloves and for the bubbly they stood
The Champagne flowed upon the champions head’s
For the victory their names will always be read
And for the memory of a friend for all should know
